Due to the recent flooding in the eastern part of Texas, residents can expect to find an increased number of pests, reptiles and mosquitoes.
Texans are accustomed to mosquitoes, but the rains could bring more. The low temperatures in early spring have helped keep the pest at bay.
Also, with the heavy rainfall, snakes and alligators will be forced to higher ground seeking shelter.
Experts encourage those returning to flooded structures to be on the lookout for reptiles, which might hide under furniture or still be on the rooftops they seceded to when the precipitation started to fall, according to the Beaumont Enterprise.
If an encounter with a snake or an alligator occurs, please call your local city animal control department.
