Young farmers, ranchers and agricultural professionals can grow as leaders and shape the future of Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) by applying for the 2027 Young Farmer & Rancher (YF&R) Advisory Committee.

“The YF&R Advisory Committee plays an important role in shaping the future of Texas agriculture and developing the next generation of Farm Bureau leaders,” said Roger Hall, TFB YF&R coordinator. “Committee members bring their ideas and experiences to the table and help make sure our programs continue to meet the needs of young farmers, ranchers and agricultural professionals.”

The committee includes a minimum of eight and a maximum of 15 members. Ten members will return for 2027, leaving up to five positions open for new members.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 on or before Feb. 1, 2027. Members serve a one-year term and may serve up to three consecutive years.

“Young farmers, ranchers and agricultural professionals have a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture today,” Hall said. “Serving on the advisory committee gives them a chance to build their leadership skills, connect with their peers and represent young people involved in agriculture across the state.”.”

Committee members help plan YF&R events and programs, including the YF&R Spring Conference, Fall Tour and regional meetings. They also travel to Washington, D.C., to meet with Congressional lawmakers and advocate on issues important to agriculture.

Applicants from all backgrounds, agricultural sectors and regions of Texas are encouraged to apply.

Committee members are selected through an application and nomination process.

Completed forms, including the county Farm Bureau president’s signature, must be submitted to youngfarmers@txfb.org by Sept. 30.
