Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) Doorways to Agriculture exhibit made learning about agriculture fun and engaging for students and teachers through school tours and exhibits at fairs across the state this fall.

Over 3,200 students and teachers attended Doorways to Ag School Tours at two stock shows.

The traveling exhibit invites visitors to step into the world of Texas agriculture and see how it touches their daily lives.

“Whether you live in the country or the heart of a big city, most items you use every day begin on a farm,” Todd Swick, TFB Outreach Coordinator, said. “Agriculture is behind every door, and the Doorways to Agriculture exhibit is Texas Farm Bureau’s way of inviting you in to discover the various ways Texas farmers and ranchers impact your life.”

This fall, Doorways to Agriculture made its rounds across the state to five stock shows, including West Texas Fair & Rodeo, Tri-State Fair & Rodeo, Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo, State Fair of Texas and Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo.

During the school tours, teachers and students were met with interactive touchscreens kiosks, oversized “books” packed with engaging content and a theater showcasing farm videos produced by TFB.

“The Doorways to Agriculture experience creates a fun, inviting and engaging environment for visitors of all ages to learn about agriculture,” Swick said. “From interactive games to walk-through trailers, the entire exhibit is designed to engage the public about Texas crops and livestock.”

The displays, games and hands-on experiences highlighted the significance of food and fiber production.

The exhibit also featured live commodity displays like shelling corn, processing wheat and a miniature model of a cotton gin.

“Visiting Doorways to Agriculture presents many opportunities to help connect consumers with Texas agriculture,” Swick said. “New to the Doorways to Agriculture exhibit this fall was the introduction of an animatronic Holstein that allows fairgoers to experience milking a cow.”

The exhibit will once again be on display at stock shows January through March 2026. View the locations and learn more about Doorways to Agriculture at texasfarmbureau.org/youth/ag-in-the-community.
