Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) Doorways to Agriculture exhibit made learning about agriculture fun and engaging for over 31,000 students and teachers who visited major livestock shows this spring.
The traveling exhibit is interactive, encouraging visitors to open the doors to Texas agriculture and learn how it plays a role in their everyday lives.
“Most Texans are now four or five generations removed from the farm. It’s important they reconnect to agriculture,” TFB Urban Outreach Coordinator Todd Swick said. “That’s why we focus on providing accurate information through Doorways to Agriculture.”
During the school tours at the stock shows, teachers and students were met with interactive touchscreens kiosks, oversized “books” packed with engaging content and a theater showcasing videos produced by TFB. The walk-through trailer filled with displays, games and hands-on experiences highlighted the significance of food and fiber production.
The exhibit also featured live commodity displays ranging from shelling corn, processing wheat and a miniature model of a cotton gin.
This spring, Doorways to Agriculture made its rounds at some of the state’s most prestigious stock shows, including the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, San Antionio Stock Show & Rodeo and Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
But it doesn’t stop there.
The exhibit will also be at the State Fair of Texas and the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo this fall.
