Texas farmers and ranchers will be paying more for more than 100 state fees this year.

The proposed fee increases from Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Sid Miller went into effect Jan. 1.

Texans will pay for more pesticide applicator certifications, organic and seed certifications, grain warehouses, weights and measures and more, according to the Victoria Advocate.

In a letter announcing the fee increases, Miller states they are necessary to recover costs of the regulatory programs.
