Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a Lone Star Healthy Streams workshop July 29 in Copperas Cove.

The purpose of the program is to educate Texas livestock producers and landowners on protecting Texas waterways from bacterial contamination associated with livestock production and feral hogs.

Matt Brown, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service program specialist, said about 300 Texas water bodies do not comply with state water quality standards established for E. coli bacteria, including the Lampasas River watershed, which is the focus of this meeting.

The workshop will teach livestock producers and landowners specific conservation practices that can help combat bacteria pollution from beef cattle, horse and feral hogs and improve the quality of Texas water bodies.

The workshop will begin at 10 a.m., with a catered lunch provided at no cost. An RSVP is requested by July 27. For more information or to RSVP, click here or call Brown at 979-862-8072.
