An event designed to boost agricultural awareness and cultivate relationships within the community was recognized by Texas Farm Bureau (TFB).
Angelina County Farm Bureau (CFB) hosted a Meet-and-Greet at the Angelina County Fair. The informative event targeted community members who attended the fair.
For these community outreach efforts, Angelina CFB was one of three county Farm Bureaus recognized by TFB during the organization’s 89th annual meeting Dec. 2-4 in Waco. The award, County Activities of Excellence, recognizes unique, volunteer-driven programming by county Farm Bureaus.
It was also one of 24 county Farm Bureaus nationwide to receive a County Activities of Excellence Award from the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF).
“We are a voice for agriculture. We want people to know that agriculture is very important, and that it affects everyone,” Jennifer Raymond, Angelina CFB board member, said. “The dinner and meet-and-greet helped show our community members not only what we do but how important agriculture is to their daily lives.”
The Angelina CFB board of directors identified the needs for the event, developed a plan and coordinated with the county fair board.
The county organization provided dinner and discussed Farm Bureau membership, youth opportunities and Texas agriculture.
There were about 75 people in attendance.
“The event helped the community members put faces to our organization and helped foster relationships,” Raymond said. “It makes it more personal and allowed them to grow confidence with us and with what we do as Angelina County Farm Bureau.”
Angelina CFB displayed a booth at the TFB 89th Annual Meeting in Waco. The county organization was also recognized on stage and received a $1,250 cash award and a County Activities of Excellence plaque.
Angelina CFB will also be highlighted during AFBF’s Annual Convention and Trade Show Jan. 6-11 in Puerto Rico.
