Heavy infestation of sugarcane aphids are appearing in South Texas corn and grain sorghum, according to Southwest Farm Press.
Recent rainfalls have hindered the decline of aphid population, but if not properly managed, the aphids can destroy an entire crop.
Although sorghum growers in the High Plains may be concerned, the aphids have not been seen west of Interstate 35. Aphids have been found on sorghum in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, the Coastal Bend and the Texas Blacklands to the Red River.
