The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service (AgriLife) is offering landowners of Baylor County a Feral Hog Management Workshop Jan. 29 in Seymour, according to AgriLife Today.
“Feral hogs are a big financial concern for producers in Baylor County as they destroy crops and fencing every day,” said Martin Shaw, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent. “This program should provide landowners with different avenues to help with the control of feral hogs.”
Workshop topics include basic biology of feral swine, damage in watersheds, progression of the wildlife industry from survival to sport and profit, effective control techniques and helicopter hog hunts. Also, there will be demonstration of a feral hog trap.
The workshop is free, but RSVP is required. Three hours of Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units may be earned by attending the workshop, which runs 1–5 p.m.
RSVP by Jan. 27 by calling 940-889-5581 or emailing Baylor@ag.tamu.edu.
