By a 412 to 4 vote, the House passed the conference report on HR 3080, the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA). Last October, the House approved HR 3080 and in May 2013, the Senate’s version of WRRDA, S 601, was approved.

WRRDA includes improvements to the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund and the Inland Waterways Trust Fund for an efficient and reliable inland waterway system linked to competitive ports.

The ports, channels, locks, dams and other infrastructure that support waterways transportation are vital to America’s ability to provide affordable agricultural products at home and abroad, according to an agency release.

A solid foundation through the works of WRRDA will contribute to U.S. economic growth, jobs and allow the U.S. to be competitive globally.
