The American Farm Bureau Federation is hosting County Leader Week April 19-23 to strengthen the organization by helping county leaders grow.
Each day, participants will have the chance to learn about a different area of leadership development in coordination with programming hosted on Farm Bureau University Board Essentials.
“County leadership is the fundamental basic of Farm Bureau,” Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) Director of Field Operations Charles Benton said. “The individual board members are the heart of the county Farm Bureau and the ones who ultimately drive and influence policy.”
Being a board member, governance, planning engaging county events and activities, advocacy and policy development and membership will be discussed in a series of short videos.
Tuesday and Friday there will be live webinars at 12 p.m. CST. By registering for these webinars, Farm Bureau leaders will also be entered into a drawing to win $250 for a county Farm Bureau of their choice.
Any member may register for Farm Bureau University for free. New users must register for an account using the member code for their state. The member code for Texas is “txfb.”
“The county Farm Bureau lives and grows based upon the county leaders. Grassroots leadership is what sets the wheels in motion, and it grows from the county right on up through the state and to the national level,” Benton said. “The goal is to give county leaders some tools that help them understand Farm Bureau better and help them develop those skills that create successful leaders.”
