Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) members have just a few short days left to apply for this year’s Discussion Meet contest.

The competition, which is a discussion of well thought-out opinions and ideas for problem solving, is conducted in panels of four or five contestants. During each panel, contestants discuss pre-selected agriculture-related topics for 25 minutes.

Discussion Meet is not a debate or a prepared speech. Instead, it’s an open exchange of ideas and opinions.

It’s an opportunity for young TFB members to develop their presentation and problem-solving skills.

To be eligible for Discussion Meet, contestants must be a TFB member under the age of 36 actively involved in farming and/or ranching.
Entry forms are available online at http://bitly.com/DiscussionMeet.

TFB will reimburse up to $200 in travel expenses per contestant for participation in the contest, which will be held at the TFB Annual Meeting in Arlington Dec. 5-7.

The winner of the state competition will receive $5,000, courtesy of Farm Credit; a plaque representative of the award; a $750 service voucher, courtesy of Chevrolet; and a Polaris Sportsman ATV, courtesy of Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company.
