Time is running out to reach a compromise on labeling genetically modified organisms (GMOs) before Vermont’s mandatory labeling law takes effect July 1.
Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts and ranking member Debbie Stabenow are still trying to find common ground.
According to POLITICO, Roberts told reporters last week that progress was made, although several issues remain unresolved. One of those issues, POLITICO reports, is processed foods that contain both meat and genetically modified crops.
