The Beaumont and Fannett communities are in mourning following the loss of a 19-year-old who died tragically last week trying to move his horse during the flooding from Tropical Storm Imelda.
According to the Beaumont Enterprise, Hunter Morrison’s cherished 2-year-old horse Silver broke through the fence on the family’s property in Fannett as the flood water rose.
Hunter and his father Anthony were wading through knee-deep water attempting to get to the horse when Hunter reportedly realized he had forgotten the lead rope.
When he turned around to get it, lightning struck the water, electrocuting Hunter and causing him to drown.
An unnamed family member shared with the community, via the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, the family is going through one of the most horrific times in their lives losing Hunter.
Hunter is the son of Dana and Anthony “Tony” Morrison. They are members of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau and Texas Farm Bureau.
A gathering of Hunter’s family and friends was held Monday in Lumberton.
A funeral was scheduled for Tuesday morning.
Memorial contributions in Hunter’s name may be made to Rocking A Ranch and Rescue in Kosciusko, Mississippi or the Green Beret Foundation in San Antonio.
We are praying that God heals your hearts. He will give you a peace that passes all understanding and help you through this dark time.
