The outbreak of Vesicular Stomatitis that affected horses and cattle across Texas, Nebraska and Colorado is considered over, according to Horsetalk. No new cases have been reported since early December 2014.

“All premises previously under quarantine in Nebraska and Texas have been released,” Dr. John Clifford, deputy administrator for Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), said. “All the remaining premises under quarantine in Colorado will be released 21 days after lesions of all affected animals on the premises have healed.”

The final report shows the outbreak was the worst on record.

A total of 644 horses and cattle were infected. Of those cases, 89 horses and 8 cattle infected in Texas.
