The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will mail voting ballots to farmers and ranchers beginning Nov. 3 for the elections of Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Committees.
Farmers and ranchers are encouraged to return ballots by Dec. 1 to their local FSA offices or by mail. To be eligible to vote, a farmer or rancher must participate or cooperate in an FSA program, according to USDA.
“The role and input of our county committee members is vital as we implement the 2014 Farm Bill,” said Val Dolcini, FSA administrator. “New members provide input and make important decisions on the local administration of FSA programs. We have seen promising increases in the number of women and minority candidates willing to serve on county committees, helping to better represent the diversity of American agriculture.”
