Private water well owners in the Double Bayou watershed are invited to a Texas Well Owner Network (TWON) training May 28 in Double Bayou, according to AgriLife Today.

“The TWON program is for Texas residents who depend on household wells for their water needs, so they can learn about improving and protecting their community water resources,” said Drew Gholson, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service (AgriLife) program specialist and network coordinator in College Station.

The training is free. For $10 per sample, participants may bring well water samples to be screened for nitrates, total dissolved solids and bacteria. It is not required to have water analyzed to attend the training, but those wanting to have their well water analyzed must attend the training. Water sample containers are available at the Chambers County AgriLife Extension office in Anahuac.

TWON training space is limited, so attendees are asked to register as soon as possible at http://twon.tamu.edu/training or call 979-845-1461.
