A final rule to allow U.S. fresh potatoes to enter all of Mexico was recently implemented by the Mexican government. This is a part of a bilateral trade agreement that facilitates trade in fresh potatoes between the two countries, according to Agri-Pulse.

The United States Potato Board (USPB) will conduct market development programs to increase consumption of all potatoes in Mexico. There is room for market expansions, because per capita potato consumption in Mexico is lower than the U.S.

USPB and the National Potato Council (NPC) support the trade agreement, saying it will benefit potato growers in Mexico and the U.S., as well as the processing industries and consumers in both countries.
