Representatives from the U.S. and a dozen Asian-Pacific countries are in Maui this week hoping to iron out details of what could be the largest trade deal in history.
According to Politico, the complex Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) would establish modern day rules of trade and anchor the U.S. to the fastest economic growing region in the world.
But the negotiations all depend upon getting the countries to agree. Each country has its own interests in mind. For Canada, it’s protecting their dairy and poultry producers. For Japan, it’s their rice industry. For the U.S., it’s protecting the pharmaceutical and auto industries.
