Texas agriculture has received an important surge in allocated water conservation funding.
The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved agricultural water conservation grants totaling $1,500,000, according to the TWDB. The state agency assists with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources.
Five groundwater conservation districts were awarded grants to offset the cost of agricultural irrigation metering. The groundwater conservation districts include Coastal Bend, Panhandle, Mesquite, North Plains and High Plains.
With the help of these grants, Texas farmers and ranchers will better manage their irrigation systems and conserve their water use through efficiency meters.
