Consumers of all ages can explore the captivating world of Texas agriculture and learn how it touches their lives through Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) Doorways to Agriculture exhibit this fall.

The interactive, agricultural learning experience will be on display at fairs, livestock shows and events across the state.

“Doorways to Agriculture is an exhibit that exposes people to the diversity of Texas agriculture,” TFB Director of Urban Relations Dakota Massey said. “This exhibit helps connect what happens on farms and ranches to the products we buy in the grocery store and use at home, at school and everywhere in between.”

Doorways to Agriculture is designed to engage consumers about why agriculture is important. Consumers can interact with state-of-the-art touchscreen kiosks, oversized interactive “books” for children and a theater showcasing videos produced by TFB. The walk-through trailer is full of displays and games that encourage consumers of all ages to learn more about food and fiber.

With less than 2% of the nation’s population actively farming and ranching, Massey noted many Texans are several generations removed from agriculture.

“Today, people are three or four generations removed from the farm,” she said. “The gap between consumers and agriculture is large, but Doorways to Agriculture is designed to show them how important agriculture is in their everyday lives and that it starts before the grocery store.”
