A Texan has been selected as one of the five next Faces of Farming and Ranching by the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance (USFRA).

USFRA announced the winners of the nationwide competition Wednesday at the National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB) convention in Kansas City.

Texas Farm Bureau member Darrell Glaser of Rogers was selected from hundreds of farmers and ranchers from across the nation who applied for the program that helps the public put real faces on agriculture for American consumers.

Glaser, his wife Shannon, his four sons and mother all live on the 500-acre Bar G Ranch where they run an integrated contract turkey brooding operation. They brood nearly 600,000 turkeys each year.

The ranch and farm also includes a commercial and purebred cow/calf operation.

β€œIt is very exciting to be able to share the story of farming and ranching with others,” Glaser said. β€œI feel it is very important for those of us involved in production agriculture to help educate others about what we do on a daily basis on our farms and ranches.”

The other new Faces of Farming and Ranching are: Erin Brenneman of Iowa, Jay Hill of New Mexico, Thomas Titus of Illinois and Carla Wardin of Michigan.
