Voting in the Texas Beef Checkoff referendum continues through Friday, June 6. Eligible voters will decide the fate of an additional $1 per head checkoff on cattle sold in Texas.

As allowed under the Texas Agriculture Code, cattle industry organizations requested permission from the Texas Department of Agriculture to create a producer-funded and managed, state-level beef checkoff program financed through a refundable assessment at each point of cattle ownership transfer in the Lone Star State.

If approved, the dollar-per-head producers would pay into a state checkoff program would allow Texas producers to conduct beef promotion, marketing, research and education programs for consumers in Texas and around the globe. Managed by Texas beef producers on the Beef Promotion and Research Council of Texas, this dollar would enhance and build upon current programs.

Voting takes place at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension county offices. For more information, visit www.texasbeefcheckoff.com.
