For the second week in a row, not a drop of drought remains in the Lone Star State.

Texas’ drought-free status is a welcome sight for many, especially when many Texans remember just one year ago nearly half of the state was suffering from drought.

Although the state is drought-free for now, there are five areas classified as “abnormally dry” on the Texas Water Development Board’s Water Weekly report.

One area is on the west side of Brooks County in the Rio Grande Valley. Frio County is also abnormally dry, as are parts of Tom Green County, Brewster, Presidio, Terrell and Pecos counties in West Texas.

Those counties may be abnormally dry for now, but forecasters expect conditions to continue to improve as the year comes to a close.
