The 15th Annual South Texas Wildlife Conference features practitioners, land managers, policy makers, wildlife biologists and wildlife researchers outlining current wildlife diseases and harvest strategies for popular Texas game species.

The conference is set for Aug. 10-11 at the Cotulla Convention Center. The Texas Wildlife Association, Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute (CKWRI) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) are hosting the event.

Pre-registration is $65 (on or before July 24), and registration is $85 (after July 24).

Speakers in the Wildlife Diseases and Population Health session include: Welcome–Len Polasek (TPWD); chronic wasting disease–Mitch Lockwood (TPWD); other white-tailed deer diseases–Dr. Bob Dittmar (TPWD); fever ticks–Dr. Andy Schwartz (Texas Animal Health Commission); quail parasites–Stephanie Shea (CKWRI); and feral hogs–Heather Sanders (CKWRI).

Speakers in the Harvest Strategy Considerations session include: Deer–Dr. Randy DeYoung (CKWRI); quail–Dr. Eric Grahmann (CKWRI); feral hogs–John Kinsey (TPWD); dove–Shaun Oldenburger (TPWD); and turkey–Jason Hardin (TPWD).
