Carye Reeder has a lifetime of experience with Farm Bureau. She has been a secretary for the past 23 years at Bell County Farm Bureau (CFB). But prior to that, she was the longtime secretary at Hale CFB in the South Plains, beginning her career in 1981.

She was recently recognized by Bell CFB for her years of service. The board of directors wanted to make sure Reeder knew she was appreciated, Bell CFB President Michael Moon said.

“She takes care of the whole office. She does the day-to-day stuff, the taxes, schedules meetings…everything. I can call her for anything I need. She’s just a winner, and we’re so lucky to have her,” Moon said.

Reeder is knowledgeable about the organization and its policies, and she’s always willing to help members and leaders.

“Carye is very knowledgeable about every aspect of Farm Bureau and what we need to do in the office and keeps us all in line,” he said. “She does a phenomenal job. Everyone knows what is expected, and it all just works. We’re very fortunate here in Bell County.”

Reeder has seen many changes during her time with Farm Bureau. Office technology was quite different when Reeder began her career.

“County Farm Bureau operations have changed a lot. Everything back then was manual,” she said. “From not having computers and using carbon paper for duplicate copies…we’ve digitized everything since then. We’ve really come a long way.”

When she moved to Bell County in 1997, Hale CFB recommended her as an employee to Bell CFB. And she’s been happily greeting Bell CFB members since then.

“I’m honored and appreciative of the opportunity to be here. I have enjoyed it so much because I love working with people,” Reeder said. “Farm Bureau is a wonderful organization, and we have wonderful members.”

Although she may retire someday, she has no plans to do so anytime soon.

“I told her the other day, ‘Carye, anybody that puts in more than 30 years is a godsend, and 40 is just unheard of,’” Moon said. “She just laughed and said we’d have to put up with her a while longer. We’ll be glad to do it. She’s been very good to us.”
