The 2015 sign-up and acreage reporting deadline for the Pasture, Rangeland and Forage Insurance program is Nov. 15, reports AgriLife Today.

The program is designed to provide livestock and hay farmers and ranchers protection against acreage losses. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Risk Management Agency (RMA) manages the program.

Payment is not determined by individual damages, but rather area losses based on a grid system. Farmers and ranchers can select portions of their acres to insure, but must choose a minimum of two, two-month intervals or a maximum of six two-month intervals per year to insure.

A decision-support tool to help producers determine coverage levels and intervals can be found at: http://agforceusa.com/rma/ri/prf/dst. For more information regarding this program, please contact a qualified Crop Insurance agent.
