USA Rice and Corteva are partnering together to award $8,500 in scholarships during National Rice Month.

The scholarships will be awarded through a video contest where applicants promote U.S.-grown rice, National Rice Month and the importance of rice in their home state. Only high school seniors from Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Texas are eligible to enter.

According to contest rules, each video should feature information about rice production, healthy eating, sustainability and other aspects of U.S. rice. Applicants can also conduct promotional activities within their communities and document the experience for the contest.

Videos should not be longer than three minutes. The entries should be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo and submitted at www.thinkrice.com/scholarship.

The grand prize winner will receive a $4,000 scholarship. Second place will be awarded $3,000, and third place will receive $1,500.

Submissions will be judged on creativity, quality and popularity. Effectiveness in promoting U.S.-grown rice and National Rice Month will also be considered.

This is the fourth year for the contest. Interested students are encouraged to review previous winning submissions when developing their ideas for the contest.

Entries must be submitted by Oct. 31. Winning students will be notified by Nov. 20.
