The Agriculture Council of America (ACA) set the theme for this year’s National Agriculture Day as “Agriculture: Stewards of a Healthy Planet.”
Events are being held across the nation, and college students will also participate by bringing the National Ag Day message to Capitol Hill.
National Ag Day brings opportunities for farmers, ranchers, agricultural associations, corporations, universities, government agencies and consumers throughout America to recognize the role of agriculture and to celebrate it.
San Patricio County Extension Agent Bobby McCool recently blogged about agriculture’s importance.
Farmers and ranchers are dedicated to feeding a growing world population. They are also committed to protecting the land that makes it possible. They care for their livestock and crops that provide the world with food, fiber and fuel.
The National Ag Day program encourages every American to:
• Understand how food and fiber products are grown.
• Appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products.
• Value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy.
• Acknowledge and consider career opportunities in agriculture.
Eat, grow and connect with agriculture.
