Field to Market’s new agricultural supply chain program will focus on benchmarking current sustainability and improving yields for U.S. commodity crops.

The new program is to become an important platform for measuring, promoting and reporting on continuous improvement in corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, rice, potatoes and other crops related to seven sustainability indicators: land use, soil conservation, soil carbon, irrigated water use, water quality, energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, according to AgriMarketing.

More than 50 prominent food and agriculture members support Field to Market’s new program, including American Farm Bureau Federation. The National Corn Growers Association is a founding member.

Within the next 40 years, farmers and rancher will face the challenge to produce enough crops to feed 9 billion people, the expected world population. The Field to Market’s new program is a vital step towards meeting that challenge.
