Texas farmers and ranchers set their sights on ag safety throughout the year, but additional emphasis is being placed on farm and ranch safety this week through the Agricultural Safety Awareness Program.

U.S. Agricultural Safety and Health Centers will join Farm Bureau in promoting ag safety March 6-10 with the theme “Lead the Way in Agriculture.”

A different safety focus will be highlighted by Farm Bureau and the U.S. Ag Centers each day of the week:

  • Monday, March 6 – Mental Health
  • Tuesday, March 7 – Preventive Health Care
  • Wednesday, March 8 – Safety Culture
  • Thursday, March 9 – Situational Awareness
  • Friday, March 10 – Temperature-Related Safety

During this week and throughout the year, Farm Bureau encourages farmers to make safety a priority on the farm and ranch.

“Keeping everyone safe on America’s farms and ranches is so important,” American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall said. “We encourage farmers and ranchers to take the time to make safety a priority during Agricultural Safety Awareness Program Week and throughout the year.”

Hazards exit on farms in many forms. That’s why creating a culture of safety on a farm or ranch is vital to its sustainability and success.

The groups have a long history of working to ensure safety is a priority on farms and ranches and continue to support members of agricultural communities in their efforts to save lives and prevent injuries and lost time on the job.

The Agricultural Safety Awareness Program is a part of the Farm Bureau Health and Safety Network of professionals who share an interest in identifying and decreasing safety and health risks.
