Voting delegates to the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 95th annual meeting addressed farm labor, dairy-related issues, unmanned aircraft systems for agriculture and other concerns pertaining to agriculture. These policies will guide the nation’s largest farm organization in 2014.
Delegates reaffirmed their support for meaningful agriculture labor reforms that ensure farmers and ranchers have access to workers when they are needed, and they supported changes to the dairy safety net. They also maintained support for country of origin labeling (COOL), reiterating the need to be compliant with World Trade Organization rules.
Among other issues, delegates adopted new policy supporting the use of unmanned aircraft systems for agriculture, forestry and other natural resource purposes.
Delegates and representatives from Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) were among those in attendance of the event, including Discussion Meet and Young Farmer & Rancher contestants.
