The 2014 Farm Bill contains significant changes in the farm safety net, including new options for farmers and ranchers. An initial look at these new provisions will be discussed at a farm bill workshop set for March 13 in Waco.

The Agricultural and Food Policy Center, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the Southwest Council of Agribusiness have teamed up to offer farmers and ranchers a look at some of the impending changes.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Texas Farm Bureau’s headquarters in Waco. Dr. Joe Outlaw, director of the Agricultural and Food Policy Center, will provide an overview of the farm safety net. A question-and-answer session with regional policy experts will follow Outlaw’s presentation.

Tom Sell with Cornbest, Sell and Associates will offer perspectives on the new agriculture legislation.

The event concludes at 1 p.m.
