Thanks to action taken by House and Senate negotiators over the weekend, lawmakers in Washington, D.C. are expected to see a new farm bill on the House floor Wednesday morning.
According to AgWeek.com, a legislative compromise proposed by the farm bill conference committee will raise target prices for grains with payments made on base acres, includes a new dairy program and will not make changes to country-of-origin labeling (COOL) for red meats or the Grain Inspection Packers and Stockyards Act (GIPSA).
A House vote is expected as early as Wednesday morning. Senate action could follow.
