The 40th annual Eagle Lake Rice Field Day will kick-off at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 24 at the Wintermann Rice Research Station, north of Eagle Lake.
The event, which is planned and coordinated by the Colorado County Rice Committee, will include tours of the research station and stops to discuss the following topics: weed management, variety testing, disease and insect management.
According to AgriLife Today, Dr. Joe Outlaw, economist and co-director of the Agricultural and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M University, will discuss decision aids and programs in the new farm bill. Dwight Roberts, president and CEO of the U.S. Rice Producers Association, will also speak.
The event is free.
Two continuing education credits (CEUs) from the Texas Department of Agriculture are available for those who qualify.
