Unbranded, a U.S. documentary about four friends on a 3,000-mile journey on horseback by director Phillip Baribeau, has won the audience award at the Hot Docs Canadian International Film Festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The four are Texas A&M University graduates, who adopt 16 wild mustangs, train them and make a journey from the Arizona-Mexico border up the spine of former wild west to the Canadian border.

Using a route through almost exclusively public lands that took two years of planning, they live out their collective dream of the 19th Century frontiersmen—albeit in true 21st Century fashion.
