The deadline to apply for Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) scholarships is Monday, March 10. To help the youth of TFB member families in their quest for higher education, numerous scholarships are available.
The Dick Mitchell Scholarship awards $1,000 to one lucky high school junior or senior who attend TFB’s Youth Leadership Conference over the summer. Interested students are asked to fill out a one-page scholarship application and a typewritten two-page essay describing their educational and personal goals for the future.
High school seniors who are interested in a future in agriculture are eligible for TFB’s Young Farmer & Rancher (YF&R) scholarship. Each of TFB’s 13 districts will award one $1,000 scholarship. To apply, interested students are asked to complete a brief form and submit their official high school transcript, a letter of recommendation and a photo.
A similar YF&R award for enrolled college students also is available.
Other scholarships are available through the TFB Memorial/Honorary Scholarship and District Scholarship Program. In each of the 13 TFB districts, one $1,200 scholarship and three $1,000 scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors.
