The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reminds farmers and ranchers of designated natural disaster areas to apply for emergency loans, according to a USDA news release.

The USDA previously designated 98 counties in Texas as primary natural disaster areas due to damages and losses caused by recent drought.

Texas farmers and ranchers in designated areas may qualify for low interest emergency loans through USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) and have eight months from the date of the declaration to apply for loans to help cover part of their actual losses.

Each loan application is considered on its own merits and based on the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability. Visit www.fsa.usda.gov/farmloans to learn more.
