Registration for the eighth annual Sheep and Goat Expo is open.

The event, which includes guest speakers, educational seminars and live sessions, will be hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Aug. 19-20 in San Angelo.

The expo’s theme this year is “Protecting Your Investment.” The event provides producers and people within the industry an opportunity to attend educational presentations and hear from experts in the industry.

The event is the largest of its kind and connects producers from across the state of Texas, the United States and beyond.

“In today’s economic environment with supply chain disruptions and skyrocketing input cost, producers are working to make the right choices to maintain their operations for generations to come,” said Robert Pritz, event coordinator and AgriLife Extension regional program leader in San Angelo. “We hope the expo can help producers make those vital decisions and protect the sustainability of their operations.”

The first day of the event will start with the 49th Sheep and Goat Field Day. The field day is a free event from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in San Angelo.

The expo will then kick off at noon.

Participants will get to see the AgriLife center’s sheep and goats, livestock guardian dog program and the Bill Sims wool lab.

Industry experts will cover a wide range of topics including business and marketing, wildlife management and health and management. Path to the Plate lamb and goat recipes will also be discussed.

Sessions will cover wool sheep, hair sheep, club lambs, meat goats and Angora goats. Participants will choose which track they would like to attend.

Exhibitors and vendors will be present both days.

The cost of registration is $75 if registered in advance or $100 onsite. Lunch is included both days, dinner on Aug. 19 and breakfast on Aug. 20.
