An event designed to encourage and appreciate teachers among the community was recognized by Texas Farm Bureau (TFB).
Angelina County Farm Bureau (CFB) hosted a teacher appreciation event and meal for elementary and primary school teachers.
For these community outreach efforts, Angelina CFB was one of five county Farm Bureaus recognized by TFB during the organization’s 91st annual meeting Dec. 6-8 in Round Rock. The award, County Activities of Excellence, recognizes unique, volunteer-driven programming by county Farm Bureaus.
It was also one of 24 county Farm Bureaus nationwide to receive a County Activities of Excellence Award from the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF).
The Farm Bureau members provided food and Ag in the Classroom resources and information to the teachers.
“We wanted to show our appreciation to the school district and the teachers who have brought agricultural literacy into their classrooms,” said Cody Berry, Angelina CFB president. “It’s important that county Farm Bureaus really show appreciation to their teachers across the state because they do such an important job of educating our kids.”
There were 75 teachers who attended the event, leaving with the reminder of how valued they are and information about resources Farm Bureau has to offer. The CFB also gave the teachers a small gift.
“During the appreciation meal, we also showcased the resources Farm Bureau has that make bringing agriculture into the classroom simple,” Berry said. “We discussed why agriculture is important to our daily lives and provided the tools that we have available that are TEKS aligned. Those resources and lessons are the engine to deliver the message of agriculture to the students.”
Angelina CFB displayed a booth at the TFB 91st Annual Meeting in Round Rock. The county organization was also recognized on stage and received a $1,250 cash award and a County Activities of Excellence plaque.
Angelina CFB will be highlighted during AFBF’s Annual Convention and Trade Show Jan. 24-29 in San Antonio.
