Farmers, ranchers and rural landowners are invited to participate in Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s landowner workshop—Owning Your Piece of Texas.

The workshop aims to cover many questions farmers, ranchers and rural landowners may have and will provide guidance on key legal issues related to their property. “There are a number of legal issues that can impact rural landowners and agricultural producers in Texas,” said Tiffany Dowell-Lashmet, J.D., AgriLife Extension agriculture law specialist. “This course is designed to help them be aware of the issues that could arise and have an idea of the law related to these issues. Whether someone has owned land for generations or just purchased their first place, this course will be useful.”

The day-long workshops will cover topics such as landowner liability, fence law, water law, eminent domain and more.

Dates and locations for the 2023 workshops are:

  • Feb. 20 in Tyler
  • April 23 in San Angelo
  • Aug. 26 in San Marcos

Registration for the workshop is $75 and can be completed online at.
