Landowners and naturalists interested in proper quail habitat management practices may attend a Quail Appreciation Days workshop. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service (AgriLife) will conduct eight workshops starting in September with the focus of stopping the population decline of the wild native quail, according to AgriLife Today.
“This is the first time in half a dozen years that I feel I’ve really seen a glimmer of hope in our wild quail population decline situation,” said Dr. Dale Rollins, statewide coordinator for the Reversing the Quail Decline Initiative in San Angelo.
Dates and county locations are: Sept. 16, Archer County; Sept. 17, Somervell County; Sept. 18, Palo Pinto County; Sept. 23, Tom Green County; Sept. 30, Zavala County; Oct. 1, McMullen County; Oct. 2, Duval County; and Oct. 15, Wilson County.
All workshops will be tailored for each county’s area and will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. and run to 4:30 p.m. Preregistration is $10, due one week prior to the field day.
