Conferences and events were not the only things cancelled due to COVID-19. Summer internships, assistantships and jobs have also been at the forefront of budget and programmatic cuts—directly affecting Collegiate Farm Bureau members.

In lieu of cancelled internships, and in addition to those still occurring, American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) would like to offer a professional development series throughout the summer focused on Collegiate Farm Bureau members and college-aged professionals.

The Collegiate Farm Bureau Summer Series is a chance to supplement the summer break with learning and networking opportunities with the goal of increasing soft skills, engagement and Collegiate Farm Bureau chapter effectiveness in the fall semester and beyond.

CFB Summer Series would contain a bi-weekly meetup from June 30 to Sept. 8 with a presenter and breakout room prompts to promote connectedness and growth.

In addition to the bi-weekly session, CFB Summer Series participants will be given a challenge to complete before the next meetup. This could be connecting one-on-one with a contact from the session, engaging with a presenter or speaker, reaching out to a mentor or colleague, brainstorming a CFB chapter meeting idea or planning a campus advocacy project. AFBF will release session topics and presenters as soon as they are confirmed.

If you are a college-aged professional or know someone who is, be sure to join at 1 p.m. EDT every other Tuesday starting through Sept. 8 via Zoom to learn how to get the most of your summer, build an effective network in a virtual setting, discover free professional development opportunities, understand the value of gratitude in professional relationships, positively contribute to workplace culture and more.

The registration link for each session will be sent out via email one week prior. Each session provides new opportunities for growth.
