Area residents in Dimmit, La Salle and Zavala counties can attend a Texas Well Owner Network water well screening April 21 at the Texas AgriLife Extension Service offices in the three South Texas counties. A results meeting for all three counties will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 22 in Carrizo Springs.

Sampling bags and detailed instructions are available at the county offices. The cost is $10 per sample, and samples must be submitted by 10 a.m. on the day of the screening, according to AgriLife Today.

Samples will be screened for common contaminants–fecal coliform bacteria, nitrates and high salinity.

The event is presented by AgriLife Extension and the Texas Water Resources Institute in partnership with the county offices. For more information about the programs offered through the network, visit http://twon.tamu.edu.
