The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) is holding its first-ever County Leader Week March 12-16. The new program is designed to foster leadership development at the county level by bringing training to Farm Bureau members.

“County Leader Week is full of online engagement activities held on Facebook Live. Each day has a specific topic, and we’ll be discussing things like a well-rounded county Farm Bureau board member,” Elise Stoddard, director of Organization Development at AFBF, said.

The program is designed for Farm Bureau members who either want to someday serve on county boards or for those who have done so previously.

“County Leader Week is for anyone who is a Farm Bureau member who is interested in serving Farm Bureau at their county board level or beyond and also state and county staff,” Stoddard said.

The online training sessions will cover a variety of different topics including being a board member, governance, planning, membership and advocacy and policy development.

“Farm Bureau members, as well as state and county staff, who participate by liking and commenting on the Facebook posts are eligible to win prizes,” Stoddard said. “Those prizes include a $100 gift card and $500 for the county Farm Bureau of the member’s choice.”

To participate, sign up for Farm Bureau University and like AFBF on Facebook and follow the organization on Twitter.
