Historically dry conditions have left California with little free food available for cattle, forcing California ranchers to evaluate their beef and dairy herds.
Some of those cattle will be heading to Texas where ranchers are looking to rebuild, according to the Washington Post.
“There’s a lot of room for more cows to come into our state, and for ranchers to add some back,” said Jason Cleere, beef cattle specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.
