Texas Farm Bureau put its best foot forward for agricultural literacy, raising $5,310 through the Socks for a Cause campaign to support the National Ag in the Classroom Organization.

“The response to the campaign was great,” said Jordan Bartels, TFB associate director of Organization Division, Educational Outreach. “Every sock purchased helped bring agriculture into the classrooms, connecting students to the farmers and ranchers who grow their food, fiber and fuel. We’re grateful for the support of those who stepped up for agricultural literacy.”

From Nov. 1, 2024 to Jan. 31, 2025, TFB encouraged individuals to step up for agricultural literacy by purchasing specially designed socks that highlighted the TFB brand and agricultural commodities.

A total of 1,062 pairs of socks were sold, and the proceeds directly benefit the National Ag in the Classroom Organization’s mission to provide educational resources to students and teachers nationwide.

“The campaign was more than just a pair of socks. It’s a step toward stronger agricultural literacy programs in classrooms across Texas and the nation,” Bartels said.

As the Texas affiliate of the National Ag in the Classroom Organization, TFB benefits from the organization’s educational resources and programs, which are funded through donations and grants. The Socks for a Cause campaign was an opportunity to give back and support a program that enhances ag education across the country, Bartels said.

“The funds raised will help National Ag in the Classroom continue its important work of cultivating agricultural literacy,” she said. “It’s inspiring to see so many people come together for this cause, and we’re proud to support an organization that helps us serve Texas teachers and students.”

NAITCO provides teachers with curriculum, hands-on activities and professional development opportunities that integrate agriculture into everyday learning.
