Incoming eighth and ninth grade students have the opportunity to grow leadership skills and learn more about agriculture through Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) Jumpstart and Activate programs.

“Jumpstart and Activate are great programs that allow students to dive into agriculture and grow their knowledge of Farm Bureau,” McKenna Bush, TFB Youth Outreach coordinator, said. “These programs are offered through the Student Success Series, which aims to help students cultivate relationships, develop professional skills and learn more about agriculture.”

Jumpstart
Jumpstart is a free, online program open to students in the graduating class of 2029.

Participants can expect to familiarize themselves with TFB, learn more about Texas agriculture, explore agricultural career opportunities and enhance their leadership skills.

“Jumpstart allows eighth graders to learn how to become a leader while also allowing them to learn more about themselves and Texas Farm Bureau as a whole,” Bush said. “Jumpstart is the first program in the Student Success Series.”

Activate
Activate is a free, virtual program open to students in the graduating class of 2028.

Activate challenges students to create a plan for leaving a legacy, explore the agricultural supply chain, learn more about TFB and develop an understanding of a personal brand.

“Activate discusses the concept of building a legacy and personal branding in an agricultural context,” Bush said.

Student Success Series
Jumpstart and Activate are a part of TFB’s Student Success Series, which also includes Engage and Thrive.

“We want the students to have a well-rounded understanding of what Texas Farm Bureau is and what the organization does,” Bush said. “Our hope is that students use these programs to enhance their knowledge in many different aspects to grow and be more informed about agriculture, leadership and Farm Bureau.”

Engage is an in-person event held in each of the 13 TFB districts for sophomores and juniors.

Thrive is a three-day conference designed to provide high school seniors with leadership and public speaking skills.
