American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) President Bob Stallman is an inductee into the Texas Heritage Hall of Honor by the State Fair of Texas. Stallman of Columbus is noted to be the first Texan to be elected president of AFBF.
Stallman was recognized for proposing improvements to current farm policy and advocating on economic issues such as decreased regulation of the agricultural industry. In presenting the award, Stallman was also recognized for his designation as a “champion of agriculture” by the Texas House of Representatives and Texas State Senate, according to a State Fair news release.
Since the Texas Heritage Hall of Honor’s establishment in 1992, it has recognized distinguished members of the Lone Star State who have paved the way for the future, specifically through their contributions to the agricultural heritage of the state. Inductees are Texas trailblazers, both past and present, whose achievements stand unparalleled in the world of agriculture.
The State Fair of Texas is an annual celebration of Texas culture and is committed to agriculture. There is food, farm animals at the livestock barns, shows and rides. An estimated 3 million people attend the fair each year.
