Feral hog numbers in Texas are estimated at 2.6 million head and cause $52 million in damages. The invasive species contributes to poor water quality, disturbs native ecosystems, destroys landscapes and gardens and threatens the state’s roadways.
Landowners looking to learn the legal strategies available to impede the ever-growing feral hog population can download the new app, Feral Hog Management. Developed by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, the app gathers science-based information and field experience in one location.
Information in the app will help landowners identify, strategize and implement effective feral hog management plans to eliminate feral hogs from their properties. Visual aids and detailed examples of trap designs, bait recipes and control methods are included.
For 99 cents, the app is available at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/feral-hog-management/id784847089?mt+8 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
